The First Day
Thursday 4 September 2025
There's a lot to think about ahead of the first day of secondary school. You can find lots of essential information here, to help make the first day go as smoothly as possible.Outline of the First Day
Our new Year 7s can expect to follow a timetable similar to the following on their first day with us:
8.40am: Year 7 students must arrive at school by 8.40am and will proceed directly to the Main Hall for an assembly with the Headteacher. They will then be taken to their new tutor room*
8.45am-10.55am: Students will stay with their tutor for Morning Registration and Periods 1 and 2. During that time students will be registered, receive a copy of their timetable, be registered for the biometric cashless system, and have their school photograph taken. Their tutor will also explain our daily routines and answer any questions the students may have.
11.30am - 3.25pm: After first break (10.55am-11.25am) students will start normal lessons from Period 3, finishing the day at the usual finish time of 3.25pm.
The following day students will go directly to their tutor rooms for morning registration and will follow their new timetable.
*Students will be advised of their tutor group on Induction Day

The School Site & Key Areas
Key Areas
Reception Areas
We have two receptions areas in order to meet the needs of our students and visitors:
Student Reception
This is where students go to sign in and out, enquire about lost property and access the Medical Suite.
Parents and carers may also need to visit Student Reception to drop off items such as forgotten PE Kits etc.
Community Reception
This reception is for any other visitors to the school. If you have a meeting with a member of staff, you will be asked to sign in here.
Medical Suite
The Medical Suite is staffed by a qualified first aider throughout the school day. If you would like to discuss any medical matters concerning your child please contact the school on 01403 263628 or email office@ths.uk.net
If your child requires special arrangements for medication to be given at school, please complete the Authorisation for the Administration of Medication Form and hand it in with the medication to the Medical Suite. This is available on our website within the Medicines in School Policy.
School Canteen
Our School Canteen is managed by Pabulum, and is open before school and during break times. Pabulum’s vision is simple: To be at the forefront of improving the next generation’s health and well-being, by shaping the food culture in education that inspires a passion and love of fresh food – without compromise.
Learning Resource Centre (Library)
The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is our Library and more! Students can use the space to relax and meet with friends, complete homework using the computers and laptops, or simply browse and borrow from thousands of books, magazines and additional resources. The LRC is open to students every day from 8am to 8.40am, at break times and after school until 4.30pm.
Provision for Students and Visitors with Disabilities
The provision of lifts in the foyer and English/Inclusion block, and ramps around the school makes all areas of Tanbridge House School accessible to students and visitors with disabilities, with the exception of two classrooms in our Design and Technology block for which provision has been made.
